How long are private party cruises?
Most private party and dinner cruises run for three or four hours. Hobsonville and Riverhead experiences are longer because they include time ashore.
Can we bring our own alcohol?
No. BYO alcohol is not permitted. Our vessels have fully licensed bars with a range of beer, wine, spirits, RTDs and non-alcoholic drinks. Cash bars and arranged tabs are available.
Can we bring our own food?
Yes, you can bring your own food. However, as a condition of our bar licence, a good amount of substantial food must be supplied for all your guests. When using the BYO food option, please bring your own plates, cutlery and serving utensils. Red Boats catering menus are also available and should be ordered when booking.
Can we decorate the boat or bring a DJ?
Yes, decorations and outside entertainment can usually be arranged. Please discuss setup times, permitted decorations, DJs and other requirements with our team before your cruise.
Where do party cruises depart from?
Most cruises depart from Z Pier, 31 Westhaven Drive, Westhaven Marina. Alternative wharves may be possible by prior arrangement and can involve additional charges.
Is parking available?
Pay-by-plate parking is available at Z Pier. Additional parking is available near NZ Marine, approximately 700 metres away, and is generally free on weekends and public holidays. Always check current signage.
Are special conditions required for 20th and 21st birthdays?
Yes. These must be family-oriented events with a good number of responsible adult family members attending. A $500 bond and substantial food are required, and additional conditions apply.

The Red Boats offers private cruises for birthdays, 20th and 21st celebrations, engagements, weddings, work functions, social clubs, family gatherings and other group events. We also offer Party & Dinner Cruises and private return charters to Hobsonville Point and The Riverhead Historic Tavern.
Private Party Cruise Details
Our standard private party cruises operate for a minimum of three hours and a maximum of four hours. Cruise prices are based on your charter duration and the number of guests attending.

Yes, you can bring your own food. However, as a condition of our bar licence, a good amount of substantial food must be supplied for all your guests.
When using the BYO food option, please bring your own plates, cutlery and serving utensils.
The Red Boats also offers a selection of catering menus. Catering should be selected and ordered when confirming your booking.
Bar and Alcohol
Our vessels have fully licensed bars offering beer, New Zealand wine, spirits, RTDs, soft drinks and non-alcoholic options.
Guests can purchase their own drinks, or an arranged bar tab can be set up for your event. BYO alcohol is not permitted on any of our party cruises.

Our party boats have professional sound systems and disco lighting. You may also be able to bring decorations, a DJ or other entertainment by prior arrangement.
